Venice is Europe's largest urban area without either motorcars or trucks.  A network of pedestrian bridges connect the 122 tiny island on the an archipelago.  Venetians travel on a network of motorised waterbuses called "vaporetti".  These boats travel along the major canals and between the city's islands.
